Getting Close...

I am at home for "moderate bedrest" for day two. It started Tuesday when I was having trouble with swelling in my hands, elevated blood pressure, not feeling well and some weight gain that was surprising for a two week period. The doc thought I might be having early symptoms of Pre-eclampsia, but luckly after a 24 hour urine sample and a three hour wait at the hospital yesterday I do not have pre-exlampsia. But given my blood pressure was a bit elevated yesterday they are going to keep me at home and off work for another two days. I wouldn't mind if it was home for the next 5 weeks, but I know that would not be fair to those I work with and will likely not happen. I guess this is just what pregnancy feels like at 35 weeks. Not sleeping well, tired all time, and just pure lack of motivation to do anything.

One cool thing that did happen over the past few days is they did monitor Connor while I was at the hospital and doctors office and it was neat to hear his little heart beating for so long and see when I was having mild contractions. They were far apart and very mild, so mild I didn't know I was having them, but interesting to see my body preparing for his birth. I am so ready to meet the little guy. 5 weeks is starting to feel like a LONG time away. Maybe he will come a little early. I am ready.

Mom was here this last weekend to help me get ready for him and I was glad she was. We were able to get Connor's bag packed. I didn't know what in the world to take with me, so it was great she was there to help me decide. On Sunday, my friend Ali gave me a baby shower. It was awesome! She had this cool idea for small baby showers to create Connor's first scrapbook. Each guest could make a page or two or three that I would eventually be able to just put a picture in and the scrapbook would be complete. I did the 'arrival' page. Mom did one "from NaNa" and some of friends did bath time, bed time, time with dad, etc. It is SO cute!!!!

That's all for now... back to resting and watching TV.

Yes, I am behind!

I keep getting in trouble from Aunt Andrea and Aunt Stephanie that I need to update my blog. And they are right. I have actually started two other updates and just have not finished them. Maybe I will go back and do that... or maybe I will just update them in this blog.

The construction in our basement is finished! Finally! We live in an older home in Colorado that had two bedrooms and one bath upstairs and an unfinished basement downstairs. I have yet to go into a home in Colorado that did not have a basement. Before Mr. Connor came into our life we had our bedroom and a guest bedroom upstairs. Now, we have moved our bedroom to the basement and built a nice walk in closet, moved the guest room to our old bedroom and changed the guest room to Connor's nursery. Yes, that is a lot of moving and I am glad we are done! I will post pictures at a later date. The nursery is done minus hanging some things on the walls that I hope to get finished this weekend. The only thing downstairs we lack is finishing touches and finding something to go over basement windows. This is a hard thing to do because they are very small, at the very top close to the ceiling and the house was built in 1918, so they aren't exactly straight. I am just excited to have his nursery together so if something happened and he came early, we are ready!

Speaking of being ready, we did have my shower in MS a couple of weekends ago and everyone was SO great with gifts and gift cards. I had to ship three boxes back to Denver. And NO the shipping did not cost more than all of those wonderful gifts. The gifts cards have been the most fun because I got to go on a shopping spree and pick up things that I really needed. Mom will be here in a week to help me finish getting organized, packed for the hospital and ready to bring the little guy home.

I am 33 weeks and 1 day pregnant now, which means just a little over 6 weeks from my due date. I have had such a wonderful pregnancy, have been feeling really great, that it has just hit me like a ton of bricks these last few weeks. I am so tired when I get home from work I don't want to move off of the couch. It is all I can do sit there, much less think of anything else. I am so lazy that I don't even want to go and get the computer to type updates. Not to mention my new wake up time at 4AM! I will be up early several days a week in a row and then crash one night and sleep 12 hours, but it never feels like enough. I have loved being pregnant, but I am just ready to meet little Connor now. I can't wait to kiss him.

I will post pictures soon!!! I promise!
