Let It Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow

How quickly Fall turned in to Winter. Although here in Colorado we thought it would never get here. I heard on the radio that November was supposed to be one of our snowiest months and here we were November 28th getting our first REAL snow. It was exciting to see. Last year when we went to get our Christmas tree and it was falling big, fat flakes. I was worried there would be no snow for my tree this year. The mountains got 17 inches in some parts and I can't wait to get up there for some snowboarding. Hopefully we can make that treck soon. We just have so much going on right now with Christmas coming up.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We certainly did, although I missed being at home and with my family this year. I was okay until about Saturday and then I got a bit stir crazy wishing I was in Mississippi with Mom and Dad and Stephanie and Andrea. I think this is the first Thanksgiving I have ever missed. I am sure there will be more of that to come given that I live so far away, but we had our own little tradition here and it was nice. I cooked a ham, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, corn on the cob and rolls, oh and we had a Thanksgiving wine, I forgot the name ;-)

On Friday after Thanksgiving we went to downtown to the lighting of the City and County Building. We took apple cider and listened to them sing carols. It was nice that they still sang the traditional CHRISTmas carols such as O Holy Night and Silent Night. I don't think you find much Christ in Christmas when it comes to "State" functions anymore. Which is sad. God truly blessed us though. As this young boy was singing O Holy Night, as if on cue, the snow started falling.....heavier and heavier it fell. Sunday before last in church Jim spoke on the ways God answers our prayers and one of the ways is "Yes...but" and I think this was one of those. There are lots of people that were praying for snow and ready for snow and God said "Yes, but..." and I think he planned that very moment for us to say "Oh wow God, look how you blessed us".

Enough of me....here are some pics of the week. Oh we also painted the living room, dinning room and bathroom and that is why there are pictures of those attached as well.
I love everyone. And I can't wait to see you at Christmas.

This is what I woke up to Saturday morning ;-)

Fall in the Rockies

September 27th, 2008 -

I could have loaded all 150 pictures we took in the last 24 hours, the views were spectacular. Joey and I left after work on Friday and drove to Granby, CO. We left Granby Saturday morning after eating breakfast at Carrie's Corner Cafe, a breakfast MUST, if you ever land in Granby for a night. Carrie will be your server and the table at the back of the room comes every saturday for a 10am brunch and always orders burritos and brings their own Bloody Marys. Oh, and that group is probably about my grandparents age. We then took off to Grand Lake, through the Rocky Mountain National Park and out into Estes Park. You have to catch the Aspen trees just right, they are only a brilliant yellow for about 2 weeks. I think we got lucky this year. I was stunned at how beautiful the were. Here are a few pics from our mini trip.

Look close and you will see a mountain lake. It actually was snowing, flurries, at the top of the park.

Now this is what she calls HEAVEN!

First time I saw Elk

This spot was amazing!!! The yellow just popped right out at you.

I love the bark on Aspens, they look like ashes.

Isn't this what you are supposed to do when you turn 30???

GOLF!! Well, maybe it has nothing to do with the upcoming birthday, but I am trying to pick up golf. We went yesterday and purchased a set of starter clubs for me and this is some video of my first hits with my NEW CLUBS! Granted I don't start out great, but that "practice swing" helped a lot with the others that followed. I am really excited about this sport.
ps. I have fixed that issue with coming up on my front toe since this video was shot ;-) Little things make a difference...

Mile High Music Festival

For Joey's birthday this year I got him Mile High Music Festival tickets for July 19th and 20th. The lineup was AMAZING! Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, John Mayer, Dave Matthews...just to name a few. It was sooo hot those days, but we stayed until the last band played on Sunday night. Which, by the way was Dave Matthews and he played until after midnight for a 3 hour show. It was so awesome. The engery those guys were putting out was just crazy. We also saw, O.A.R., OneRepublic, Jason Mraz, Gavin Degraw, and Flogging Molly. If you have never heard Flogging Molly I suggest it. They are a CRAZY Irish band that Joey and I have just gone crazy over. The main dude is a red head, as foul mouthed as a sailor, and loves his beer but he puts on an awesome show.

More to come on our new house (which we moved into right after this). We miss everyone!
Love, Joey, Maggie & Abby

Vegas Baby!

My first trip to Vegas! We had a great time. It was soooo hot, averaging about 106 a day. Needless-to-say we laid by the pool all day and ventured out at night. I thought Vegas was cool, but was a little disappointed. I think I was expecting more from it. The water show at the Bellagio was by far the highlight of our trip...well.... besides the Flamingos. I do love Flamingos and these were real and just inside of the Flamingo Casino, that also housed Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. I am getting close to visiting all the Margaritavilles. Here are a couple of pics from our trip.
