Getting Close...

I am at home for "moderate bedrest" for day two. It started Tuesday when I was having trouble with swelling in my hands, elevated blood pressure, not feeling well and some weight gain that was surprising for a two week period. The doc thought I might be having early symptoms of Pre-eclampsia, but luckly after a 24 hour urine sample and a three hour wait at the hospital yesterday I do not have pre-exlampsia. But given my blood pressure was a bit elevated yesterday they are going to keep me at home and off work for another two days. I wouldn't mind if it was home for the next 5 weeks, but I know that would not be fair to those I work with and will likely not happen. I guess this is just what pregnancy feels like at 35 weeks. Not sleeping well, tired all time, and just pure lack of motivation to do anything.

One cool thing that did happen over the past few days is they did monitor Connor while I was at the hospital and doctors office and it was neat to hear his little heart beating for so long and see when I was having mild contractions. They were far apart and very mild, so mild I didn't know I was having them, but interesting to see my body preparing for his birth. I am so ready to meet the little guy. 5 weeks is starting to feel like a LONG time away. Maybe he will come a little early. I am ready.

Mom was here this last weekend to help me get ready for him and I was glad she was. We were able to get Connor's bag packed. I didn't know what in the world to take with me, so it was great she was there to help me decide. On Sunday, my friend Ali gave me a baby shower. It was awesome! She had this cool idea for small baby showers to create Connor's first scrapbook. Each guest could make a page or two or three that I would eventually be able to just put a picture in and the scrapbook would be complete. I did the 'arrival' page. Mom did one "from NaNa" and some of friends did bath time, bed time, time with dad, etc. It is SO cute!!!!

That's all for now... back to resting and watching TV.

  1. OH NO! I was put on moderate bed rest 9 days before Allie arrived. It was nice to leave work a little early and have extra time to get things ready at home, but I don't know that I cold have gone much longer with "nothing" to do.
I'll pray that he comes a little early.
